Dimensions of Sprocket

Sprockets can be classified into common sprockets, HK sprockets together with other sprockets.
one. Normal sprocket
Conventional sprockets are ANSI sprockets which can be engaged with normal series roller chains. See P125 for dimensions.
There are actually two types of tooth profiles: U-tooth and S-tooth.
2. HK sprocket
HK sprockets might be engaged with HK series roller chains, and people for single strand chains are identical to regular sprockets. Having said that, sprockets for many strand chains are various from common sprockets in sprocket tooth profile.
three. Other sprockets
Other sprockets are developed in accordance to the following calculation formulas to suit respective specialty chains.
The sprockets made use of for that following chains would be the similar as the standard sprockets in tooth gap type, but distinct in tooth thickness (sprocket tooth profile).
four. Calculation of sprocket dimensions
The dimensions of regular sprockets together with other basic sprockets are calculated as follows. In the beginning, the diameters of sprockets are calculated from your following calculation formulas.
Next, sprocket tooth profile (the shape with the tooth according to its thickness) is calculated from your following calculation formulas. (The values shown in the following pages had been calculated by these formulas and thought to be the regular values.)
Calculation formulas for diameters and tooth gap kinds Calculation formulas for diameters
Calculation of pitch diameter, tip diameter and caliper diameter
The essential dimensions of the sprocket ideal for a chain pitch of 1 mm are respectively referred to as pitch diameter element, tip diameter element and caliper diameter component. The respective factors for respective numbers of teeth are listed below. If these components are multiplied by chain pitch, the basic dimensions of the corresponding sprocket could be obtained.
Instance:
While in the case of 80 (25.forty mm pitch) with 35 teeth Pitch diameter (Dp) = P×Pitch diameter factor
Calculation formulas for tooth gap varieties
Because the most rational tooth gap types by which the strain angle modifications in response towards the elongation of the smoothly rotated roller chain with all the lapse of service time, ANSI specify two varieties of tooth profiles: U-type and S-type. In general, S-type tooth profiles are adopted in accordance with ANSI, and our standard sprockets also have S-tooth profiles.
